Can Rose Quartz Go In Water?

The ability of a mineral to withstand damage when exposed to water is majorly determined by its hardness. A hard gemstone will not be affected by water while the one with a softer material, is more prone to damage.

To us, all stones seem quite hard and we cannot determine the exact difference in the hardness of each. Therefore, we have Mohs Hardness Scale.

What is Mohs Hardness Scale?

This scale is used to measure the hardness of minerals by testing their resistance. It ranges from 1 to 10. A mineral at a level 5 or lower is considered soft and hence, is not safe in water.

Rose Quartz lies at number 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. Hence, you can put rose quartz in water without any worries. It can safely stay in the water for a long time, provided it is a genuine rose quartz crystal.

If your rose quartz is not real, then be prepared for the worse. Fake rose quartz lose its color when submerged in water. On the bright side, it is a good way to test the authenticity of your stone.

Ever heard of charging stones or crystals out in the sun or moonlight? Well you’ve heard it right which kind of suggests that rose quartz can go in the sun.

You may also have heard about a rose quartz losing its color in sun. So what exactly is it with rose quartz and sun? Actually, both these notions are correct. Rose quartz does lose color in the sun but you can keep the exposure healthy as well.

Keel the sun exposure limited

You need to be careful with the amount of sun exposure you’re giving to your Rose quartz. A limited amount of sun exposure doesn’t harm the rose quartz.

However, if you’re going to leave the crystal out for a whole day or week, then of course the scorching sunlight will eventually fade out its color.

On the contrary, keeping rose quartz in the sunlight for 3 to 4 hours is beneficial for it. As a matter of fact, it is a great way to recharge your crystal and get rid of the negative energies.

Can You Cleanse Rose Quartz In The Sun?

Yes, as I said previously, a limited time of sun exposure is beneficial for the rose quartz. Rose quartz comes from nature and so it draws energy from natural resources such as the sun and water.

A 3 to 4 hour sun bath is a great way to cleanse and recharge your rose quartz crystal to revive its energies.

Can Rose Quartz Go In Salt?

Unlike many other crystals such as Gypsum, Selenite or Pyrite, Rose quartz is absolutely safe in salt. Salt is not capable of doing any harm to your rose quartz crystal.

In fact, forget any kind of damage or harm because salt does wonders for rose quartz. It functions as a purifier for it. Apart from sun and water, salt is commonly used to ward off the negative energies consumed by the rose quartz over time.

  • To cleanse your rose quartz crystal with salt, fill up a bowl with lots of salt.
  • Next, bury your rose quartz into the salt until it is completely immersed.
  • Now let it absorb the calming aura of the moonlight outside. You can keep this bowl under the moonlight for as many days as you want.
  • Once the process is over, dispose off the salt and go about with your crystal as usual.

What are some salt safe crystals?

In addition to rose quartz, some of the sun safe crystals include black onyx, jade, moonstone, morganite, sunstone, tourmaline, black obsidian, etc. But even with these stones, you need to be careful with the amount of sun exposure. Three to four hours under the sunlight are adequately enough for charging and reviving them.
